Much to my relief the engine is now running on all 8 cylinders and has had 40 mins running to bed the camshafts in.The timing was way out plus I am embarrassed to say 2 HT leads were the wrong way around. The fuel pump is still noisy but you can't hear it when the engine is running so it might just have to stay as is.
I have an oil leak from the sump which is not good. I will speak to Roadcraft tomorrow to ask their advice.
The rest of my spare time has been spent fitting the master cylinder heat shield below.....

The latest problem has been that I have wired the reverse lamp to be switched on the negative side of the circuit. Unfortunately this is no good as the the fog and reverse share a common earth so I am now having to rewire it with a switched positive. A complete pain as the wires are all covered with the center tunnel.
