Last week I got back my Dax handbrake lever which had been away for some polishing. It came back looking so much better with all the welds removed. The picture doesn't do it justice. (Many thanks to Dave R)
I also received my modified billet stainless brake pipe clamps so in theory all should have been go go go.
To connect the handbrake up I needed a grommet for where the cable passes through the body. I have a huge collection of grommets but all too small for the glass fibre on the body so I thought, Ill pop to the show at Donnington and get one, along with a few other bits.
No such luck, no one selling grommets there but I did get a few other bits and had a good chat with the chaps from DAX.
So no handbrake completion
I have bought a split collar to which I have attached a wire (sheathed in stainless over braid ) which I attached to the return stub on the fuel tank
Other jobs I tried to do:
Drill the hole in the new stainless firewall panel for the front w/h , didn't have the right size hole cutter
Chop out the poor brake pipes going to the master cylinder, my flaring tool couldn't get in close enough
........and then to cap it all, I took the Alpine out for a spin to Halfords down the road and it sprang a massive oil leak from the oil cooler which then spent several hours stripping out.
Never mind , better luck next time
