Spent today trying to finish off the throttle cable fitting. I'm not happy with the Dax proposed method of attaching the cable to the pedal so I have ordered a clevis that can be attached to a steel cable. At the same time I decided that I didn't want the cable and carb linkage taking all the force from the pedal at the extreme of its travel so I have made up a bracket that will allow me to fit a throttle pedal stop. Just need to weld it on next week.

This is Bud who has very kindly bought me my MSD 6AL -2 in the states. Its amazing the cost difference between the UK and the States. Many thanks Bud These stainless work benches were kindly given to me by Ben H. The garage is filling up with bits and work bench space is running out so these ultra clean work surfaces will come in very useful. Many thanks Ben Fitted the throttle cable to the engine today, (Freezing in the garage, deep snow outside) Didn't like the proposed return spring set up from Dax (the spring fouls the linkage on full throttle) so I have made up a bracket that fits to the cable mounting bracket. I want to fit twin springs for safety but cannot find anywhere twin ball studs so I have ordered some stainless studding and will make some I'm still waiting for the dimensions of my MSD ignition module so I can pre drill the holes in the passenger stainless panelling prior to fitting. I filled my time by making and fitting some stainless strips to go on the flange that the transmission tunnel fits to. I will use the bolts that hold it on to secure the tunnel when I eventually fit it. Been on holiday for the last 2 weekends. Golden beaches, warm sea, 30 degrees. A bit different here. Very cold outside so didn't manage much this weekend. Fitted negative link lead from chassis to engine and battery negative cable. Green colour on fixings is a special battery terminal grease I found in garage !!! |
